Colour

This selection of natural dyes was created using various plant extracts, flowers, and food remnants. The dyeing process took place in both my kitchen and the print studio at Liverpool John Moores University. We used fabrics such as silk habotai, linen, and cotton. Different colours were achieved by experimenting with copper, iron, cream of tartar, and citric acid. Adding citric acid or cream of tartar can enhance some natural dyes, making them brighter. Generally, copper and iron tend to darken or deepen colours.

The portfolio is maintained as a physical folder and is regularly updated as the project progresses.
